Woodfordia has reached an important milestone in the Forest of Goodwill campaign with the establishment of Woodfordia Foundation Ltd. 

The new Foundation has been created to support the long-term protection of Woodfordia and provide a dedicated governance structure for the funds raised through the Forest of Goodwill campaign. 

The campaign was launched with one clear purpose: to secure the land beneath Woodfordia and protect it in perpetuity as a home for arts, culture, community and environmental stewardship. 

The establishment of the Foundation strengthens that work. It provides a formal structure to ensure donor intent is honoured, funds are carefully managed, and decisions are guided by Woodfordia’s long-term purpose. 

Woodfordia Foundation Ltd will now support the next stage of the campaign, including the ongoing management of funds already raised and future fundraising towards the land buy-back. 

The Foundation’s establishment follows significant momentum for the Forest of Goodwill, with more than $2.5 million raised to date through the generosity of Woodfordians, donors, matched giving partners, and supporters across the wider community. 

While the campaign continues, the goal remains unchanged: to secure Woodfordia’s land for future generations. 

The creation of the Foundation marks a practical and important step in that process. It gives donors and partners confidence that the campaign is being supported by appropriate safeguards, strong governance, and a long-term structure designed to protect the legacy of Woodfordia. 

For an organisation built on a 500 Year Plan, this is one of those quietly significant moments. Less fanfare, more foundations. Literally. 

During the Closing Ceremony at The Planting, our Foundation’s inaugural Chair, Professor Ian Lowe, led the gathering in the planting of a Bunya tree to mark the establishment of the Woodfordia Foundation. Carrying the ceremonial torches were our Forest of Goodwill Fellows: Steven Pronk, Nicola and Percy Ellis, and Annie Quarmby and Max Klubal, helping to honour the occasion and usher in this new chapter.
