Join us for The Weekend at Woodfordia on the last weekend of every month. Participate in our events, have fun, and contribute to Woodfordia’s greater mission
For the month of August, Woodfordia will be holding it’s annual site-wide working bee, the Winter Warmer. We welcome you to join in our working bee projects. The Folk Club and glamping tents will only be available to the working bee participants.
The regular monthly Weekend working bees will resume in September.
CONSERVATREE
Conservatree is an exciting project aiming to transform Woodfordia into an indigenous species arboretum of significance. Over the years, we have planted many trees. Now we are excited about developing and caring for the undergrowth, the diversity of small plants, sedges, shrubs and vines; the bees, butterflies and fireflies; the mammals, reptiles and birds.
We are also taking the opportunity to focus our love and attention on beautifying specific parts of Woodfordia through location-based Conservatree working groups.
Conservatree offers the opportunity to come together on the last Saturday of every month to enhance our community and our connection to this beautiful land. We hope the Conservatree will attract people interested in learning and having fun at the same time. Each month, we also make time to enjoy the wisdom shared by a range of guest speakers at the Conservatree Talks series.
Please consider joining us. When RSPVing, please make sure to indicate if you’re coming to the free BBQ lunch at noon. We’d love to see you! It’s a great way to meet other people who are doing wonderful things during The Weekend at Woodfordia.

ARTERIES
For July
Our growing group of creatives will be working on a range of ongoing projects.
These include sewing projects, clay and mosaic tiles for the tile wall, designing and painting the very special Chai Tent tables, crafting paper-mâché beetles and dragonflies, making butterflies, sign painting, construction projects, as well as cleaning, repairing, recycling, refurbishing and sorting various bits and pieces.
Everyone is welcome at the Arteries, regardless of skill level — there’s a wide variety of jobs to suit all abilities. We’re always open to ideas that help beautify our beloved festival. So many creative adventures ahead!

WARRIORS
Are you a handy person that likes to fix things, build or work with wood? Do you know how to weld? Or perhaps you have a strong passion for the ageing infrastructure of Woodfordia. If so, you might consider joining the Warriors to help give a longer life to the many things that need a little love on site.
For July
Some of the tasks the Warriors will tackle include:
- Continuing with building furniture from recycled materials to be used around the grounds.
- Continuing building benches beside the sinks around the amenity blocks to assist when washing up dishes
- Applying protective coatings with a paint brush to our newly constructed daybeds and tables
- Creating additional shelving in the shed and continuing to create space and order.
- Pressure cleaning and preserving our timber structures, bridges and decks

TREE HUGGERS
Woodfordia’s longstanding group that cares for the many trees and plants that have been planted over the 30 years. Known for their strong love of the land, these folks will come out on the Saturday afternoon, share dinner and tunes around the fire, and then hold their working bee Sunday morning.

TRADITIONAL MUSIC SCHOOL
All players are welcome. We learn by ear, and you will be able to join in if you know the names of the notes on your instrument and can comfortably play a scale in D major and G major. Bring your singing voice, we always do a song too.

Kristin and Alan Kelly are excited to be returning to teach at Trad school this month. Straight off the slippery back of a North Queensland Tour, both of the tuneful Kellys have some fine new songs and instrumentals to teach you this month.
To pay for your music lesson, please complete the RSVP form. The link to pay, along with all other essential information about The Weekend, will be sent automatically to you once the form is completed.

The Duck
FOLK CLUB
Budding musicians and seasoned pros welcome to sign up for the monthly chalkboard performances to the most forgiving audience around. From poetry that will make you cry, to comedy, soloists and groups, even opera is welcome! At just $5, it’s the cheapest and most entertaining evening you can enjoy, especially after a day of contributing to the land and all of Woodfordia projects. Open to the public and you are welcome to camp overnight.

Camping and Relaxation:
All are welcome to camp overnight and swim in the lake.
Food and Drink:
Delicious dinners are available for purchase on Saturday night, with the bar opening around 5:00PM. Traditional Music Sessions also start at 5:30PM, so feel free to bring your instruments and join in.
Safety Induction:
For anyone participating in the working bee projects, please complete the online safety induction at least once every 12 months.
Don’t forget to pack your swimming gear, singing voices, music, instruments, and dancing shoes. You are welcome to arrive Friday afternoon if you wish.
