Filming and Photography Internship

This is your chance to gain real industry experience in a fast paced video and photography team working at Australia’s largest music festival. Work alongside the highly skilled multimedia crew and produce video or stills content for Woodford. Learn about all aspects of working within film and photography for major events while gaining valuable real-world knowledge. This internship will feature hands on experience across a range of rolls with experience streams across film, photography, post production and production management.

Training possibilities include:

  • Shooting with DSLR cameras
  • Stills photography using DSLR cameras
  • Data wrangling
  • Editing and post-production via FCPX or Premiere
  • Photography post production via Photoshop/ Lightroom
  • Production management skills shot lists, call sheets etc


Experience Gained


  • Industry experience with a major festival in either still photography or live video recording
  • On site experience recording various types of content with multiple output destinations
  • Live performance video recording and photography
  • Promo and event video recording and photography
  • Procedures for working within a film/photography team
  • Editing content for web, online platforms or podcast
  • Learning about distribution pathways and best practices for film/photography
  • Mentorship from experienced team members who are working in the industry


Essential Skills (these are skills we require of any interns in this area)

  • Experience with one element of production, editing, filming, audio recording at an intermediate level (you will be given ample time to brush up on your skills)
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a calm and friendly attitude in a busy environment
  • Strong desire to learn about film and/or still photography


Desirables (these are skills we would like in any interns in this area)

  • Some experience with editing software
  • Some experience in a crew or production team
  • Familiar with DSLR cameras/ have your own camera/ gear


We work in a Mac-based office environment. It is preferable that the intern is able to do so as well, or is willing to learn (on their own time.) Being proficient in both Mac and PC is a plus.


Internship Timeline

1 & 22 October Welcome and Orientation including

  • Introduction to Woodford
  • History of the organization
  • Getting to know you sessions to learn more about your personal goals for your internship
  • Introduction and guidance into various areas of pre production and set up
23 October – 29th  November
  • Increase your knowledge in various areas from pre-production
  • Crew management
  • Data management
  • Shoot and edit a video for social or create a photography set about your experience so far
  • Further learning about the cameras, equipment and software
30th November – 24th December
  • Assisting with the production management in the lead up to the festival
  • Assist with the management of the crews
  • Assist with the creation of systems for file management during the festival
  • Further expand your knowledge with the area you wish to work in during the festival itself
25 December – 1 Jan
  • Work alongside The Film and Photography teams during the festival to produce video or still content for Woodford.

4 January Internship finale including:

  • De-brief with Project Manager
  • Group presentation on what was the key learnings, highlights, challenges
