The Woodfordia commercial activities/business administration internship is an exciting opportunity to gain real world experience in a high paced retail and management environment. Be part of a world-class commercial activity support team across 13 bars and venues, general store, cafes, festival shop and online activity. Learn about business administration and compliance functions and see your work play out real time with festival patrons.

Experience Gained


  • Industry experience with a major festival being part of the commercial activities and business administration team.  
  • On site experience working in a fast paced environment creating and managing various aspects of working in retail management
  • Being part of management teams overseeing multiple venues and sites
  • Assisting with system management   
  • Overview of industry standards and best practice.
  • Mentorship from experienced team members    


Essential Skills (these are skills we require of any interns in this area)


  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, mainly Word and Excel at an intermediate to advanced level
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a calm and friendly attitude in a busy environment
  • Strong desire to learn about working in business administration


Desirables (these are skills we would like in any interns in this area)


  • Background in any of area: business, customer service or accounts  
  • Basic Experience with CMS managing Ecommerce (shopify/wordpress)  
  • Your own laptop
  • Passion for business administration and systems


We work in a Mac-based office environment. It is preferable that the intern is able to do so as well, or is willing to learn (on their own time.) Being proficient in both Mac and PC is a plus.


Internship Timeline

1 & 22 October Welcome and Orientation including

  • Introduction to Woodford
  • History of the organization
  • Getting to know you sessions to learn more about your personal goals for your internship
  • Introduction and guidance into various areas of the commercial activities team
23 October – 29th  November
  • Increase your knowledge in various areas
  • Systems and administration
  • Ecommerce  
  • Retail support systems
  • Stock management
  • Learning about various CMS and Payment gateways
30th November – 24th December
  • Assisting with the commercial team in the lead up to the festival
  • Assist with the roll out of systems  
  • Assist with retail and stock control
  • Further expand your knowledge with the area you wish to work in during the festival itself (bar/retail/ ecommerce)
25 December – 1 Jan
  • Work alongside the commercial team during the festival to assist in the management and support for all commercial ventures  
  • Experience the festival
1 January
  • Volunteers Party at the Grande
2 – 4 January
  • Wrap up report
  • Manual completion
4 January Internship finale including:

  • De-brief with Project Manager
  • Group presentation on what was the key learnings, highlights, challenges
  • Goodbye dinner and ceremony, presented with certificate of completion and letter of reference
