ABOUT
OUR ORGANISATION
Woodfordia is a not-for-profit, community driven organisation with our 500-acre headquarters at Woodfordia, approximately five minutes drive from Woodford in SE Queensland, Australia.
Woodfordia’s mission statement is to stimulate, facilitate and foster the preservation and promotion of folk culture for the common good.
OUR LAND
Our traditional Custodians are members of the Jinibara Nation. The Jinibara people are the registered Native Title Holders for the Woodford area and are comprised of the descendants of Fanny Mason, known as Jowalmel, who was born in the 1840’s at Woodford, and Johnny McKenzie, known as Wangiramu, born in 1826 near Kilcoy.
EVENTS
LAKE GKULA CAMPING
Lake Gkula Campground is set amongst 500 acres of bushland at Woodfordia each school holidays, one hour North of Brisbane. As a registered land for wildlife site, visitors will get the chance to see many of the beautiful animals that call Lake Gkula Campground home including; echidna, kookaburra’s, wallabies, goanna and more. Visitors can choose to set up camp and relax with ample space to spread out, nestled under the shady trees or join in on a multitude of exciting self-led activities like bushwalking, lake swimming and bike riding through our diverse and ecological landscape.
WOODFORD FOLK FESTIVAL
The Woodford Folk Festival is held annually over six days and six nights from Dec 27th through to January 1st. More than 2,000 local, national and international, artists, musicians and presenters put on over 438 acts to an audience of an estimated 132,000 people. The festival begins each year with the iconic Opening Ceremony and closes with the spectacular showcase, the Fire Event on New Year’s Day. This year will be the 36th Woodford Folk Festival and the 28th held at Woodfordia. It is the largest gathering of artists and musicians in Australia.

THE PLANTING
Woodfordia owes its beautiful, cultural parkland to The Planting. Our organization, when it purchased this property in 1994, had a notion that rather than just sing about issues facing the environment, we get our hands dirty by planting trees. Through The Planting, we created an event that contributes to worldwide consciousness emerging in communities everywhere—an endeavor to heal a planet damaged by the ravages of our industrial practices in the past and which sadly, still continue today.

FESTIVAL OF SMALL HALLS
Festival of Small Halls is a series of tours that takes the best folk and contemporary acoustic artists performing at two of our country’s largest festivals, and sends them on the road to tiny halls in communities all over Australia. It is produced by Woodfordia Inc in partnership with many other wonderful Australian festivals, regional partners and great lovers and supporters of folk and contemporary acoustic music.
